When are we going to learn, we must be VOCAL and I mean real real vocal and PROACTIVE in dealing with our situation in Egypt. At this point we are not even reactive enough to let the world know what is going on in Egypt. I agree prayer is most important, but if for example someone needs money he can not just pray to God for money, he has to pray and go to work to make money. If moslems can demonstarte, burn our churches, kidnap our daughters and kill us why then our church always advice us not to demonstrate hoping to keep peace in Egypt. Well peace in Egypt is not happening and will never happen. Forgiving and forgetting will never work with moslems, they are EVIL.

If we demonstrate like Muslims we must not forget that we are a minority forming only 10% of the whole Egyptian population. We are a drop in the ocean compared to them. We must be wise in all our actions because Jesus lives in us and we live in Him. We can not fight evil with evil. Our Lord Jesus said - "Not to resist evil: but if one strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other" (Mt:5:39)

Many Christians do not have the patients to listen to the Bible any more. We must not forget that God protected the children of Israel from Pharaoh for 40 years in the desert. He divided the sea to give them a safe pass. Do you doubt that HE will do it again for the Copts?? When we pray we say "Thy Will Be Done". So we must have faith and patients for the days to come we will see more hardship in the land of Egypt. But Jesus will not leave his children, and as the Bible said:- "In the fourth watch of the night, HE came to them walking upon the sea.(Mt:14:25)

We must listen to Pope Shenouda because God speaks through him as he spoke to Moses. We must obey and follow his wise advice and not take matters in our own hands. Many of us are angry with what is happening in Egypt and in Sudan and as a matter of fact all over the Middle East, "Be not rebellious against the Lord: and fear ye not the people of this land, for we are able to eat them up as bread. All aid is gone from them: the Lord is with us, fear ye not.(Nm:14:9)

On our part we must not provoke the enemy, let us lie down in wait because God promised to protect us from all evil. "Thou wilt bring me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me: for thou art my protector.(Ps:31:4)

MY FELLOW COPTS, HAVE FAITH IN GOD AND WAIT AND SEE HIS POWER, GOD WILL SOLVE THIS PROBLEM IN THE RIGHT TIME, YOU JUST HAVE TO PUT ALL YOUR TRUST IN HIM.

Do not put your faith in the American Congress or in the hands of International governments. Russia was the second largest power on earth but God at the right time converted the whole country from communist to Christianity over night.

Jesus said "The things that are impossible with men are possible with God. (Lk:18:27)

God bless you all

Coptic Church, I agree with some of what you said in not trying to provoke the enemy, but staying quiet and lamenting your bad luck as you suggest is a negative attitude, when the pope cries it means how much of a pressure that he is coming under, it's a signal for every Copt to do as much as he can to help his helpless brothers and sisters. Please don't speak on behalf of the Pope nor the Church, but speak your own mind

Ashraf

We speak on behalf of the Copts because we are Copts and because we all suffer from the same problem, we do not speak on behalf of the Pope, we support him. If you criticize the way we express ourselves why shouldn’t we also criticize acopt for speaking on our behalf.

Father Zakaria Botros is speaking on behalf of the Copts although he has been warned many times not to do so by The Holy Synod. Who gave him the authority or the permission to speak on our behalf? He has resigned as a priest; we don’t want him to speak for us because he is making matters worse. Please visit our website and listen carefully what H. H. the Pope says about him. If you find difficulty in locating the audio, we will show you where to find it.

So please try to be more reasonable and aim for peace and not for vengeance, because GOD said:- “Revenge not yourselves, my dearly beloved; but give place unto wrath, for it is written: Revenge is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.” (Rom:12:19)

We did not say anything in our message to make you angry. We quote from the Bible and if that is not good enough for you then you are free to accept it or not but as a Christian you have not got the right to criticize the words of God

The Free Copts speak on behalf of all the Coptic Community so do we, what is wrong with that!!??

Last but not least, faith in God is more powerful than all the luck in the world and by God’s will, through faith we will prevail.

Coptic, execuse me, but Father Zakaria never claimed that he speaks on behalf of the Copts, and I don't think this blog said they are speaking on behalf of the Copts. I don't think anyone has the capability to speak on behalf of the Copts except for the Pope. and 2, where is the venence you are talking about? you think by epeaking out and ask for equality for all is an act of evengence? for God sake! I noticed from visiting your website that you have a personal problem against father Zakaria, so please settle matters with him and don't apply your own convicions on others.

I will voice my small humble opinion about this matter. I am a copt living in California, going to a school where the Muslim Student Union has grown EXPONENTIALLY in 4 years. They have their own newspaper, etc, etc..Do you know how many of us Copts would love to "fight back" against the comments they write in their newspapers...The Youth of this world are a lot more sensitive than the generation of our parents...BUT...no matter what happens, no matter who gets hurts, who gets kidnapped, there is ONE RULE for CHRISTIANITY...suffer for the sake of Christ...Saint George, Saint Mina, Abu-Seifein..any many saints who were soldiers in the army...don't you think they could have had some revenge...they did not..it is not our ways...our way is accepting the cross, we accept the punishment, for the sake of Christ. Does anyone really think matters will be better if the Government intervened ?? Or will they will only get worse ??? A very easy example...when you go to school and you get into a fight, and the principal intervenese, both people are in trouble, after school, the rest of the "gang" is waiting for you...if we allow for governments to intervene, the coming years will only be worse..we do not live in egypt, our brothers + sisters do, we do more harm by making political movements..We must UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES become vocal or proactive unless authorized by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III. We are Copts, We are obedient, We sacrifice everything and anything to gain entrance into Heaven. Those are my thoughts. Feel free to comment.

There is a big difference between accepting the cross and seeking a cross to carry. The attitude of some Copts is so negative that makes one would want to puke

You have spoken well brother; We wish everyone can follow your good example.

Youths like you make the world a better place that reflects the true image of Christianity.

As for Ashraf, we pledge that you should read between the lines. As far as Father Zakaria is concerned he is wearing the Coptic priesthood Uniform which is the emblem of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Many of his followers glorify him; we are just trying to explain to them that they are defying the orders of the Coptic Church which are listed in our website. As long as he is wearing the Coptic uniform we have the right to complain. As soon as he removes that uniform we will wipe out any article concerning him in our website because then and only then he has the right to express himself in the way he wishes without linking himself to the Coptic church.

In many of his controversial lectures he speaks about the Copts and how they are persecuted in Egypt, who on earth gave him that right. The only person who is authorised to talk publicly about political matters concerning the Copts is the Pope and the Holy Synod. In our website we just convey what they say by publishing authentic recordings and documents supplied by them.

We will not refrain from expressing our freedom of speech. This priest is inciting global religious hatred between Christians and Muslims. For God’s sake read and listen to what the Pope and the Holy Synod are trying to say about his provocative activities that would further damage the peace and stability in Egypt.

He has resigned from all his priesthood duties and he is not allowed to take part in any church activity. The secretary of the Holy Synod warned all Copts all over the world not to read his books or listen to his tapes or even associate with him.

His son in Melbourne Australia has been deprived of his deaconship and he is also not allowed into the Coptic Orthodox Church and you still have the guts to say that what you have read in our website is personal? Don’t you know that his son has denounced the Coptic Orthodox Church and formed his own sect calling it ‘THE HOLY BIBLE BEACON CHURCH?

If the Arabic articles about Father Zakaria Botros are not clear in our website we can translate them into English for you to understand.

Do you think it is a personal matter when we Copts try to support the doctrine of their church from outsiders?

One more thing :the so called (Coptic church) should be ashamed of himself. You know people look down at your wesbite you even had to put (this is not a Muslim site) at the front page of your site, this indicates what kind of content is on your site. And by the way, what are these links you donate to at your site? are they gay sites? You can let your woman taken by a Muslim and sit down and cry, but we will confront them and stop them when we have too, if we die we will die as men rather than living as chicken heads like you.

THE LAST MESSAGE FROM COPTIC-CHURCH

Due to the insulting rude remarks made by some of the bloggers we have decided to withdraw from the BLOG and not to answer back because we have the Lord to answer for us. We were invited to this Blog by The Free Copts via email to share in a polite free speech but unfortunately all we got was unsocial behaviour from some members.

Our website is open to anyone who wishes to learn the truth. We do not hate Fr. Zakaria Botros but we do not agree with the way he expresses himself under the veil of the Coptic Church, he is not healing the rift between the two religions but he is widening the gap between them. Muslims already have a grudge against us why make things worse? This is not Christianity; this is ignorance of the true faith. We are inflicting more burdens on the shoulders of the Pope. Why do we refuse to learn from the saints and martyrs that were slaughtered in the name of Jesus? Why do you think the Pope is crying? He is crying because the situation in Egypt is getting out of hand and he wisely said “THY WILL BE DONE”. You are all happy that Fr. Zakaria is attacking Islam and you are clapping your hands to him, proud of him because he is revealing what Islam is all about. The Copts in Egypt have already got their feet in quick sand; let us help them by pulling them out with our prayers and fasting and not by pushing them further in.

If Fr. Zakaria Botros reverses his attacks on Islam by preaching the Gospel it would have more effect on Muslims because they would have the chance to compare between Christianity and Islam. But when you attack using provoking remarks you leave them no choice other than to retaliate and then we go and cry to the world to come to our rescue. Hypocrisy will get us no where.

President Bush may have a conversation over the phone with President Husni Mubarak warning him not to harm the Copts of Egypt but will Muslims individuals heed to that warning? Will they listen to their president? If America boycotts Egypt and stops all aid going into it the Copts in Egypt will suffer the most. So let us be prudent and let us allow God to deal with this matter in His own way.

He has sowed hatred in the minds and hearts of Muslims that would backfire on the Coptic Community in Egypt. We all know that “For every action there is an equal and opposite Muslim reaction” Call us cowards if you wish, but we would prefer to be wise and treat conflict of interest according to the Christian teachings.

We never claimed that we are from the Egyptian State Security, where did you get that idea from.

If the statement “this is not a Muslim site” is worrying you, we have removed it from the website. We put it there because people like you thought that it was a Muslim site. If you consider biblical verses are from the Koran then you really need to visit your nearest Coptic priest in your local church.

You are all welcome to visit our stupid website as one of you claimed.

The so called (Coptic church) is nothing but an agent of the state security as he told me in his e-mail, that's wh it's for his best interest to have the Copts stay silent and stick to the negative attitude. He dedicated a website to attacking Father Zakari, considered a hero by the majority of Copts. So, I belive this person should just be ignored as he is not a man enough to defend his honor but he would be so happy to see his woman taken by a Muslim

Please all copts lets stay united in prayers and in DEEDS. And "coptic church" can you answer one question of mine please, if what you say is the right thing to do, then why did David pray and fought Galaias with a little stone?!!! Wasn't that considered drop in the bucket? But God in all his Glory blessed David's deed and made him defeat his enemy. The same God that blessed the 2 fishes and 5 loaves to feed thousands. We need to think of us all the copts as one family, and in that sense we will feel that everything that happened in Egypt happened to our family. Can anyone imagine someone killing or kidbaping a member of his family and not do anything about it but praying?!! Wouldn't you at least fight back and defend your family? and if you ask for Gods help wouldn't you think that he would bless and NOT condem your action? And please please don't condem Fr. Zakaria Botros by any means. When I was a young teen ager I used to go to his meetings in St Mark Church in Heliopolis and I knew then as I know now that he is a man of God, may the Lord bless him and keep him for us. It is rare when we have a preast like him in our coptic church.

Father Zakaria Botrous has brought back the mission of preaching the Gospel to the world, as for the person who called himself (coptic church) , he is just so happy preaching to the choir, not just that but also is happy with the continous attritions our people are suffering. brother Coptic church let me tell you something that we as Copts should learn form the Sudanese Christians, when you stand up for your rights and fight back against the Muslims, one day you will regain your right, of course you will sacrifice on the path to your liberty, but it's a much better sacrifice than being idle and watching the evil of Islam sweeping through your land snatching the sheep left and right. We need to expose the evil of Islam that has plagued our countries for over 1400 years, and since we know Arabic , we are the best to deal with it and expose its fallacies

Pray, pray and I will say pray. If this is a satanic attack on the Christians of Egypt, then let God deal with it. We are stronger praying than fighting. The Fanatic Muslims are coward, they want you to get into fight with them, but instead we put the cross between us and them. Don’t look at the world’s weapons for protection, look at the cross where we get our strength.
The issue is much deeper than feeling or human-rights; it is spiritual. The reason that we are still living in Egypt is due to the Grace of Christ our God. And now the door is being opened for our Muslim brothers and sisters to come to Christ and to know the eternal life. Keep praying for them because we are seeing many coming to Christ without any attack on Islam or Muslims, but by GRACE.

Yes it is difficult time, but our people will come out of it wiser and more committed, and salvation will touch thousands, Even millions in the Arabic and Muslim world.
Let the world give us hate and insult and we will give them Christ crucified for them and us.
The world will give us hurts, but Only Christ brings them healing, fogginess and joy. Let them kill us, we will arise again and they will glorify our God with us
We are the leaven of the Arabic speaking world, so let us shine the light of Christ in us for them to come.

As for the Muslim, we love you as Christ loves us, we want you to come to Christ for liberation, salvation, and eternal life. If you want to KNOW God, then ask Christ to come to your heart. When you meet Jesus, you will meet God.
If you want to meet some Muslim who found Christ, please come to our website “convertfromIslam” @

TO: ACOPT and Ashraf and Let Me Do The Job

I agree with you we should take small stones like the people of INTIFADA and pray to God to be with us like he was with David against Goliath. You know what I mean ‘an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth and the one who started it is to blame’.

Don’t forget that was in the Old Testament long before Jesus Christ came,. When Jesus came He gave us the right teachings and He gave us rules to follow, HE provided us with grace as one of you put it.

But you have a point let us give it a bash according to your advice maybe then and only then God will be with us, after all what are we loosing KHARBANA-KHARBANA.

I have read all the comments in this page and the most reasonable of all is Coptic Church, why don’t we ponder on what he said. I and my fellow Coptic friends have visited www.coptic-church.org and we have discovered that the Pope himself and a Bishop called Bishoy are contradicting Father Zakaria due to his wrong approach to Islam. In one audio recording I have noticed that he has been expelled from the church and that he is no longer a Coptic Orthodox but from the Sabtyeeeen what ever that means.

The other very impressive message is the one that talks about peace and grace:-

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/convertsfromislam/

eemc2203@yahoo.com

This kind of attitude together with coptic-church is very fruitful and can eventually lead to peace.

I am not a religious Copt but I know who ever lives by the sword shall die by the sword. Muslims will kill themselves one by one because all their lives they have lived by the sword. Look what is happening in Iraq and in India, they are killing themselves. Our fellow Americans have lived by the sword all their lives in civil wars and by killing innocent civilians in Iraq. If we Copts try NOW to live by the sword we will perish. Let this blog be a peaceful means of communication between each of us without insulting remarks like cowards and so on let us debate in a civilized way. Some of us are very hostile towards each other; we must accept criticism from all parties and must accept to debate without anger.

Peace be with you all

I agree with the previous post. I also apologize to the Muslims on this group for using a word such as 'Cowards' in describing the fanatic, and this should have been written ‘afraid’ instead. The fanatic people who attack our Church are both angry and afraid. While we might not be able to help them with the anger (which comes from hearts that does not have peace), we should not also provoke them for no reason.

I am not blind of the fact that we Christians have our own fanatics. When I was in Egypt there was the Sheikh Sharawai who attacked Christianity every Friday. How many of us were sad, and how many of our fanatics were complaining for not being allowed to answer him. Switch the situation now and instead using Shikh Sharawi to attack Christianity, let us use Fr. Zakarai to attack Islam. Are we surprised that some normal and radical Muslims are upset and willing to commit violence in defending their faith?; I am aware that the attack on Christians never stop. Attack on Christianity in the Western world is also continuum for the last few century. Let me tell why, Christianity is not acceptable to either the materialistic west or the Islamic East. This the reason that we don’t fit in either East or West because we don’t belong here to this earth . You are not hated because you are Copt, but because you belong to Christ; BUT be careful and don’t think to much of yourself. Read these words of Christ in John, 15 and you will understand
‘"18If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. 20 Remember the word I spoke to you, 8 'No slave is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21 And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.’

Yes I know there are more attacks on Christians by Muslims in Egypt, But There are also more attacks on Islam by certain radical Christians in the West. Muslims in the West have all the right to attack and to argue against Christianity without fear from attack. So where does that situation leave us?
In some civilized societies, you have all the rights in the world to say what you want to say irrespectively of others. But this is balanced by the right of every one of protections from most harm.

If we are dealing with human rights, let it be clear, while most Christians of Egypt don’t have much freedom, but neither do most Muslims. The very little freedom they both have is what drive hostility between the two communities because they are fighting for a small pie. And for this, don’t blame Muslims but your selves. As a community we need to be active in our participation of election and civic issues. You have to be active in order to make Egypt a better place for all Egyptians. By acting on your passion and love for your country, you will give your fellow Muslims a good model. You participate because you love Egypt not because you want to ‘free’ Egypt from Muslims. Egypt is a country for Muslims as it is for the Copts, you are all Egyptians.

Finally, you want Muslims to know your God, be a Christian-like. Love God with all heart, your mind and spirit and love your Muslim neighbor as you love yourself, and when you do that, Christ love will shine in your heart and in theirs.
God loves Egypt (Muslim and Christians), because we all are His children

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit One God Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, I really feel very sad because in attacking true servants of Christ like Father Zakariah, we are divided upon ourselves and "a house divided upon itself shall not stand". We should rather help every preacher, Sunday school teacher, priest and layman to deliver the message of Christ. We should also not be ashamed of our history as the Church of martyrs because we should speak out the truth no matter what "whoever confesses me before men I will confess him infront of my Father and his angels and whoever denies my name infront of men I will also deny him infront of my Father and His angels". We should remember that wisdom does not mean hiding the message of the gospel and the main task of the Church is to be a light to the nations and a salt to the Earth. We have for too long as a Coptic Church being forced into servitude of the interests of the politics rather than into the servitude of our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ and one day we will have to account for every opportunity Christ gave us to confess His name and to lead others to Him which we wasted by succumbing to fear. Remember it is the Lord Jesus who have kept the Church strong in the face of persecutions and again it is our Lord Jesus and only our Lord Jesus who can guarantee the survival of the Church into the future but only if the Church truly does His will. "Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord shall enter the Kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of my Father in heaven". I do not claim for one moment that I want to push my bretheren into "quick sand" as someone claimed, but at the same time all I want to say "stay true till the end for I will give you the crown of life". Our Lord Jesus will never abandon us but we have to speak up His message, we have to preach His word to everyone and not withold it. May the Lord bless you all and give us the wisdom, the strength and the faith to live according to His words and to preach His Holy Name Amen.

you ungrateful copts
finally someone (fr zakaria boutros ) has come to speak on your behalf stand up in the face of horror (Islam) and you're not happy, may god forgive you but please shut up, and i'm saying this on behalf of every copt i know... it's an honour that someone like fr zakaria boutros is wearing the "Coptic priesthood Uniform", and don't go saying about muslims they're evil because they're not evil and fr zakaria believes in that they're just blind people and need a guide to the true light our lord and saviour JESUS CHRIST, I wish you were all muslims terrorists to see how hard they're working toward building what they believe "GOD" has commanded, I'm not saying it's right but they're humans too and need to be saved. and GOD forgive me for saying this but they would definitley make better christians than you, the problem with us copts is that we have a weak and messed up character. use the light that GOD has left you, speak up and preach don't speak against your priests that does it,
fr zakaria is the cause of the baptisme of millions of muslims world wide
HE IS THE TOOL THAT GOD IS USING TO GET TO MUSLIMS IN THEIR HOMES
AND DELIVER THEM THE WORD OF CHRIST
BUT WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
NOTHING...
just sat there and complained about what he's doing instead of carrying your crosses and trying to preach with him. and if you people that critisize fr Zakaria are copts then I'M ASHAMED OF CALLING MYSELF ONE. I hope you all get the message and please don't work against the hand of GOD for one day YOU WILL ALL stand before him and he will ask you: HOW DID YOU SPREAD MY NAME? DID YOU PREACH AND TELL OF ME? OR YOU STOOD AGAINST MY WORD and the ones helping it grow? TO the people that post anything on the net or speak against someone that preaches the word of GOD IN ANY WAY: IF you don't want to help atleast be quiet. and let your brothers and sisters work in peace. thank and GOD bless you... I have been a servant for father zakaria in Melbourne back in the 1990's. He is an incredible man, a man of God, for the first time in my life I knew who God was, who he really was through his teachings. I think the coptic church should not denounce father zakaria, he is the only real priest I have seen who has spoken out and told the truth. Unfortunately most of the priests in Melbourne are just laymen and do not really do the true work of God.

God bless you father Zakaria and help you to continue doing his work.

I am surprised at what is said here, there is a difference between attacking a religon or ideology and between discussing and challenging. No religon or ideology are except from critisism and I believe God would want us to question everything because in questioning we will find the truth. Father Zakaria questions Islam unlike Sheikh Sharawi who used superficial arguments and often deceptive words!

As to what is happening in Egypt, Jesus spoke about loving our enemies, and carrying the cross, but he did not talk about silence or cowardice! Remember the earlt Church in the book of Acts, remember St. Paul, he went from place to place preaching and used everything to get the gospel to people, when he was flogged and not given a proper hearing, he used his RIGHTS as a Roman Citizin and to get a hearing AND an apology. He wasn't just silent talking about "carrying the cross" he knew his rights - and Copts in Egypt have to stand up for their rights too - we are full Egyptian citizens and technically speaking we have every right to preach the gospel and people should be allowed to change their religon should they wish!

May I also say that Christians across the world have won battles by prayer AND work - Martin Luther King Jr in his fight against racism prayed and demonstrated and attacked racism ideology (and rightly so). So did people in Poland and other communist countries, the Christians took to the streets shouting "we forgive you" to their enemies - they prayed and they did something about it and they managed to defeat great powers of darkness!

I wish all the copts and all the converts (motanasereen) would stand up and be counted and refuse to be silent. I believe their silence is not because they want to "bear the cross" but because they DON'T want to bear the cross - they know that if they talk their persecution will increase and they don't want it - no one wants to be persecuted, but let us all pray that God would give us strenght to remain in Him when the time for persecution comes.

May God bless Egypt and all the people of Egypt.
