R,

you seem to have something against the moderator, which you are entitled to, but I am concerned that your multiple posts on this are becoming a distraction.

It really doesn't matter who is first, what matters is content. People go to your blogs and this one, because they are interested in content. If you insist on continuing to pound your concerns into the ground, there will be no fruitful discussion.

I am not a Copt. But I am interested in human rights abuses worldwide and I believe the Copts have been victims of that. R, I am not just blaming you here, but what I and other non-Copts always see are Copts who constantly fight and compete with one another. This is not good and it doesn't help your cause.

One observer in DC noted that Copts are always trying to one-up each other and that this one-upmanship actually hurts the work being done because everyone gets sidetracked on the competition and they forget the issues.

If this blog is not the first and yours is, then it is a matter for you and the moderator to settle off line. And if he does not want to settle it, my advice to you is to let it go, as it is not the key issue facing the Copts. What the real issue is is the persecution that Copts face today, which is a serious matter.

So lets continue this discussion on that track. I am sorry if it seems like I am scolding you here. It is not my intent to do that, but to resolve this issue.

I totally agree,
The enemies of the Copts want us divided.
let's leave pride out of this and work constructively.

Me??
I don't have anything against the moderator. I actually don't know him/her, and I just visited this blog very recently, and I'm still discovering it.
In my comment up here, I am actually agreeing with the moderator.

"It really doesn't matter who is first"
Of course it doesn't and I also never said it does.

"Copts who constantly fight and compete with one another"
A lot of people fight and compete with each other, and I don't think Copts do it more or less than any other human group. In addition, I don't compete with anybody, and I'm actually not particularly interested in Coptic rights more than anybody else's rights. It seems you have totally misunderstood my comment or you are taking me for someone else.

"If this blog is not the first and yours is, then it is a matter for you and the moderator to settle off line"
I don't want to settle anything. I was passing by, and saw a statement that says "this is the first Coptic blog", so I made a comment correcting this statement.
It's a bit dangerous to write that anything is the "first" without really confirming it, so I made a friendly comment that had no implications. I don't know why you are making it a big story.
It happens all the time in the blogging world that we correct each other.
If we search extensively now, we may find 10 Coptic blogs that are three years old, so what?
***
Maybe the new thing is that this blog has been recently added to the Egyptian blog ring, and that's how it drew mine and others' attention. I remember earlier this year that three or four people had meetings for bloggers and each of them called their meeting "the first meeting for Egyptian bloggers". It was funny! Why would anybody call something "the first one?"

Bottom line: the issue has been closed almost a week ago, I don't know why you're opening it again?..

What enemies???
This sound like a conspiracy theory...

This post is saying that amcoptic.com has taken an article from this blog without linking to the original article or referencing it.

I think the moderator has all the reasons to be upset and ask for correction.

To r

You say"What enemies???

Are you a Copt,r?..If you are not, then you are in the wrong place here. If you are, then let me clearify.

YES...Copts have enemies. We suffered from them in ElKhanka, El Zawya El Hamra, El Kosheh, and just recently, Moharam Bey, in Alexandria....are you aware of these events, r ? Please stop talking about the conspiracy theory. It seems that some people are obsessed by attacking others using the said theory. Just find out what happened, and you can see for yourself.

BTY, Copts are NOT against Islam, or open minded Moslems. As a matter of fact, the only hope for a better future for Egypt lies in the cooperation between Copts and moderate Moslems against the M.Brothers and other forces of fanatism, and extremism.

raif: "YES...Copts have enemies"

I didn't ask if Copt have enemies or not. Of course any human group may have enemies; although the word needs always to be defined as it may refer to more than one concept

The examples you mentioned are not necessarily referring to enemies.

If you are attacked by a bunch of thughs, it doesn't really mean they are your enemies; they may just be violent people who attack anyone who is different. Enemy refers more to a war setting or to a systematic power working and planning to harm a particular group.
Also, animosity is a reciprocal attitude: if you have enemies then you are also their enemy. I don't really believe Copts are enemies of anybody. Are they?

All this has really nothing to do with my comment. I was commenting on "The enemies of the Copts want us divided. let's leave pride out of this and work constructively."

So I really wonder who are these enemies who are spending much time to plan for dividing Copts"??

It makes me feel I'm reading a radical Islamic site saying: "The enemies of Islam want us divided. Let's not divide and fight between each other"....
Well.. It's the same logic;
it's always used as an excuse to silence any discussion.

What will make us divided if we differ in points of views or if we even argue with respect??

This really really sounds like discrimination.

Unexpected from someone fighting against discrimination.

Who cares what I am, girl or boy, Jew or Gentile, Copt or Eskimo???

r,

When I asked if you were a Copt, you replied:

"Who cares what I am, girl or boy, Jew or Gentile, Copt or Eskimo???"

This is EXACTLY what I expected you to say, and of course it does not answer the question !!!

If you were a Copt, you would understand what I wrote, and why Copts believe that there is "a systematic power working and planning to harm" them.

Your message(x2!)contains many points that can be replied to easily. However, I am not fond of side discussions and distractions.

Thank you for illuminating us about the consept of enemy, war, etc.

I hope that others will stick to the main subject for the benefit of all.
