An eyewitness account of events in Luxor, Egypt

Even animals were not spared in the Luxor rampage against Copts

At around 6:30 PM on 1/18/2006, and per the orders of security officials in the village of Udayssat, electricity was deliberately cut off the entire region, five minutes later a multitude of Muslims – over 5000 of them- started their rampage against the Coptic church in the village using metal chains, swords, wood sticks and axes, nothing protected the Copts inside the church except for the grace of God and their presence inside church; despite this, around 300 Copts were injured.

Security officials blocked the wounded Copts from seeking medical help under the pretext that their names were not documented among the wounded. However, 20 of them managed to make it to the local hospital. The only ambulance that arrived to the scene was wrecked by the mob of extremists and radicals. The security chief threatened the priest in charge of the church and literally told him "The security forces are not here to protect you, but rather to prevent you from praying, and you will not be allowed to pray in church"

As for Mr. Ali Al Udayssi, the Shura Council representative of the region, he is personally involved in inciting the crowd, as a matter of fact; his father had burned the same church in 1968.

We are pleading for HELP so that the Copts of Udayssat be allowed to return back to their homes and practice their normal daily life, we are still terrified and unable to go back fearing the aggression of the Muslims of the village.

The Egyptian media has falsely reported that the burned church was a guest house, yet the church was established in 1960 and burned once in 1968 by the father of the current representative of Udassat in the Egyptian Shura Council, the church was renovated afterwards in 1969.

They go around killing and terrorising the Copts, not knowing that we are all precious to God for He has paid for our salvation with His blood. They think burning our churches will weaken our faith and resolve...they are mistaken. With God's help we have prevailed against all odds for 1400 years. And even if we were all wiped out, the gates of hell shall not prevail against Christ's church.

Something needs to be done....the world needs to know.

It,s relatively simple: the next time that scum tries again, douse them with pig's blood and gas. Then hold the torch and ask them how brave they are now. They won't be martyrs when they burn.

Is it a prerequisite that you must be a FUNDAMENTAL TERRORIST to participate in Egypt's politcal system?????

This animal, Ali Al Udayssi is a politician AND taking part in mob violence?!

Is there a judicial system in Egypt? Is there law in Egypt? Is their justice or accountability in Egypt?

Can someone answer me please?! Will these criminals/animals just walk free without any repercussions for what they did? If that's the case, you can expect a repeat performance.

If criminals go unpunished what kind of message does this send? I guess the question is is who do you turn surely can't be the gestapo they're often times the ones who organize these crimes, or at the very least, turn a blind eye. I don't know...

Pray for the poor victims and their families. Pray also for these animals that they may open their eyes one day.

The answer is yes. Never forget that the Copts are subhuman infidels who have the temerity to believe Jesus as lord and second person of the Trinity. Remember the Moslem are animated by a positive hatred towards Christians. The Copts are just the first to experience it

As for those who want the church to speak up, the Church does that. However, the church does not have another agenda regarding the future of the Church in Egypt. The Church only works for the salvation of the souls not the liberation of the people. Christ lived among the Jewish people who ales were persecuted because of their nationality, Yet Christ embarrassed many of the Jews by declaring one time that one of Roman officer had faith more than any one in Israel.
Our chance of improving the situation of the Copts is through layman people like you and me. More importantly, these laymen should focus on the social issues facing the Copts and the application of the rules of laws, and the respect of human values and rights. They should steer clear from religion. A crime is crime and if any educated Copts is left in Egypt, the officer who was in charge should be brought to justices in a law suit. Some Jewish lawyers in the USA followed hate groups and took them to court, one-by-one. They used the law to drive them out of business.
Start documentation of human rights abuse and work with Muslim human right groups until we confront and deal with these abuses.

Would you please take more pictures of these poor burned farm animals, and distribute it all over the internet. Their pictures and the suffering they went through is a hell that needs to be shared with all animal lovers all over the world. Killing animals is a very sensitive issue with lots of people. Please use their tragedy to expose the inhuman spirit of these criminals. Someone should also file a lawsuit against those who committed these crimes. We have to make it so expensive for someone to attack another human being. We have also to remember that many Muslim Egyptians would agree with us in disgust of this atrocity.
